Day Three pre Glastonbury Festival

June 19th, 2007 , 9:23

A dry an bright start to the morning most of the mud dried up. A dry wind blowing this morning witch was like last night a pleasant end to the day. With a nice sunset

The backhall connecton was off most of yesterday, only coming back on in the evening. But we got more done, so two more configs and a flag, well every one else has one 🙂 .

So we will try to mount the remaining APs to day, and clean up for every one else that will be in the cabin. They just add two more editors this morning.

We are getting a steady stream of people wanting to use are network, mostly from the volunteers, and other people around the site area.

End of the first day

June 17th, 2007 , 19:39

We’re doing very well the on-site ip is a bit flaky and tends to go up and down a bit. We’re still waiting for the BT man to put our link in; we managed to configure three links to day, a good days work all in all. We got a 5 Ghz frequency out of the on sites. I also did a first scan of the site to see the current coverage we are giving This is the result so far.

So meet the crew of Greenpeace IT for 2007, Olly “we’re running out of whisky”, Dan “and stake” and Joe, that’s me. Today the weather has been kind, the site is mostly not there situation normal our first customer is wandering around with his laptop showing the site to some one (and it’s still working.) So sign off for now, may add more later.

So breakfast had and now down to work, the first set of antennas is up, the office rearrange we now configuring the server and the first access point. The weather is not wet almost sunny.

A Day in the Country

June 13th, 2007 , 9:03

Or going down to Glastonbury field, does not have quite the same ring to it as strawberries fields, the the sentiment of nothing is real is the same. So first thing was to check-in with the site office for adsl line, and wireless frequencies. It all sort of when down from there 🙁 It turns out (as usually i have to say what was promised was on delivered, so rather than setting up a mini network for are site workers, i spent most of the day trying to get the bandwidth required, so we are trying several routes to get this done.

I did manager to setup some stuff, for basic printing and so on. The after lunch at the goose hall

is was on your bike (well firms bike or was that death trap, I,m shore brakes are ment to do some thing) to look at the various parts of the site ware equipment should be locate, well i would have taken some picture of this but all you would see is nice green grass with white lines painted on it. Situation normal then, back to the site office through the dust, good job i waring karkey to day 🙂 . The weather was bright and sunny (so i’m a bit burned to day). More conversations on what to do next, we have a plan, that will teach olly to say quietly confidant! then back to the Greenpeace field, before heading back to London.

Today is about adsl lines, a kit getting all together for shipping down to the site.

Glastonbury Correction

This year the organisers have said don’t bring loo roll. So you can take that off your list. It’s being provided on site by Nouvelle and is environmentally friendly. So no soap and no loo roll. But definitely wellies as the met office are still predicting showers. It wouldn’t be Glastonbury without a bit of rain.
