Well ts Fosdem 08 and we here again helping set up stuff mostly wireless. The pysical has gon better this year with exprance from last year and some nifty new bracits.

But as all ways some things go slower we lost the configs of last year due to crash bangs and wolips 🙂 .

Plus they are holding a concert in the janso main hall so it looks like we can not get in ther to set up to night. So we waight for a new config and do some more cabling.

So played with the green machine witch looks like it will be called George as its two cute, note i resisted the erge to go tooooooo, but it is.

Had some trouble inishaly  getting it on to a wpa2 net work looks like it ones the pass key in hex not askii. bug ? well their is part of the wpa supplicatin o by the way is basically fc7 so once you get to the termanul passed the suget interface is yum install there are a few difference but not many so as i was saying part od wpa suplicat is wpa_passphrase give it you essid and pass phrase it gives out the hex copy and passed that in to the dialog box and you on.

after that i did an update to build 656 witch may help ?

but it seans to remember the key so now i turn on and log in.

Went to the Destinations show in London and walked around dreaming about travel. Picked up far too many brochures; no way we’ll do everything we picked up but it’s fun to dream.

So plans for the moment include a long weekend in Florence (Kathleen thrilled and Joe bored), Caribbean for a conference (Kathleen working, Joe playing), possibly Copenhagen, and the chance for a cruise around northern Norway.  And someday off to Antarctica so Joe can photograph penguins.

It’s 2008! Finally. Watched the fireworks going on around the house and listened to music. Glad to have finally made it into 2008.

Happy new year to everyone!

Well it’s the last day of 2007 and I cannot say I will be sad to see it go.

It has not been a good year, we have lost far too many good friends, family and work mates this year so we will be raising our glass to toast those not with us as the year passes by. So much has gone wrong and troubles too many to mention. So to all I hope the next 12 months sees gladness replace the sadness, joy replace the pain and good fortune replace the downs of two thousand and seven.

So bring in the new and sod off the old.

2007 you are the weakest link and p.s. you’re fired.

Ok, what sort of sad person blogs on Christmas day? Joe, that’s who. So here I am, wanting to play with my brand new, just opened this morning DS and instead I’m updating the blog.

Up early, breakfast (why?), open presents (yea!), then start lunch. Lots and lots and lots and lots of lunch. Venison and every veg we can fit on/in the stove. After stuffing ourselves silly we play with our new toys and then watch Dr Who.

So have a very Merry Christmas and thanks for all the cards and gifts and messages! All best wishes for the new year!

What happened to November? It seemed to pass away quietly with not much fuss and not a lot to blog about. The only thing that comes to mind is the Sparrowhawk insurgent; one minute fluffy spudgies next minute lunch. It liked it so much it came again the same day.

Funny, I’ve not seen many birds lately I wonder if it is related. 🙂

So the solstice is coming, so work is under way for the main feast. It will probably be a normal staple of venison and game (I wonder what sparrow tastes like, I can already see those disapproving looks 🙂 ). Plus the veggies.

Which I do eat despite popular belief. I suppose the one thing you will not find on the menu is turkey, which I always find funny coming from the area that’s got the biggest reputation for it.

Are well back to the recipe books to finish off the ideas, and the obligatory christmas drink 🙂

Which is probably spelled wrong but so it goes. We had a long weekend in Paris. Not doing much but seeing the sight, taking in the late autumn sun and enjoying the food, beer (Kathleen: wine), and just generally chilling out.

After checking in and a leisurely lunch which amazing ended up with Kathleen having creme brulee for pudding (cause Joe ordered it) we went to the late evening opening of the Louvre. Went to see the Mona Lisa, then just strolled around being amazed by all the works of art. Well, Kathleen was amazed, Joe just went umhm every now and again.

Next day we did the main sights: Arc de Tromphe, Trocodero, Eiffel Tower, and a walk down the Seine. Stopped off and had a wonderful lunch in probably the only non-smoking restaurant in Paris, before wandering through the hell that was Paris’s main shopping area on a Saturday afternoon. Kathleen leading the way and just happened to find Cartier (Joe wouldn’t let me go in). We went into one of the main department stores and Kathleen managed to find the French Rugby Team 2008 Calendar. Lots of balls.

Went back to the hotel for a bit of rest before heading out for dinner and the France vs. New Zealand match. Found a neat little place that had a large screen TV behind the bar and finished dinner before the match started. A very good match; however, the French team wore clothes. Wandered back to the hotel to the strains of La Marseillaise and the occasional Swing Low Sweet Chariot. Not much sleep that night.

Sunday had the hotel guests from hell during breakfast – worst of the British or ‘how not to be a British tourist in Paris’. Loud and rude and yelling at the staff. However, we got extra coffee while they got ignored. We wandered up to Montmartre where we had a look at the artists and their works. We purchased a rather tacky Christmas ornament. After which we had lunch and then got our bags and headed home.

Next month Eurostar leaves from St Pancras so much easier to get to from work. It may be time to start thinking about having dinner in Paris when we can’t be bothered to cook!
